The family of Goofs

I woke up in the morning from my bed at the campus, like usual. For a little while I didn't even remember what day it was, but soon enough I remembered. Today I would leave back home for vacation. I could almost hear home calling for me. For a while I still lay down on my bed under the blanket, but finally I heard some birds chirping outside, and I got up. I yawned and walked to a window, pulling the curtain up. What a beautiful morning! The sun shone right into my eyes, and I could feel the warmth through the window.
Next I went to bathroom to wash my teeth. As I came back, I took a quick glance to the clock. It was already 11 am, so I quickly gathered up my things.
A moment later I already ran out carrying my suitcase and skateboard with me. Bobby and PJ already waited for me in the car, so I threw my things in and went myself in after them. As I leaned against the car seat I could only hope that the guys would get us safely to my house, 'cause I felt my eyes slowly closing. Soon I already was fast asleep and hugged my dear skateboard. Of course the whole mileage went right past me, I didn't know a thing.

I was asleep even then, when the car stopped next to our gate. Bobby and PJ tried to get me awake.
- Max... Max, wake up! You're back home!
I muttered something unclear as I opened my eyes. I grabbed my things, waved my friends goodbye and slowly walked towards the door. I somehow managed to open it and stepped inside. It was... strangely quiet. As I walked past the kitchen I saw the poster that hanged a little clumsily on the wall. It said with large font: WELCOME HOME, MAXIE!
I sneered a little before continued on upstairs, to my own room. In my mind I already saw myself falling to my bed and taking a little nap...
I barely made it to my room, when my dad suddenly jumped from somewhere and hugged me. He had been hiding in my room and waiting for me to come in.
- MAXIE! You came back!
dad shouted squeezing me so hard that I felt like all the air escaped my lungs.
- Yeah, dad, I'm right here, but please don't choke me...
I moaned. Dad let me go and continued:
- I've got a surprise for you!
I winced. My dad's surprises had the bad habit of being questionable.
- What have you planned now? We'll go fishing for one month? Yeah well no thanks, I actually thought I'd go skating...
Dad kept shaking his head.
- No, you goof! What I meant, was--
at the same time we heard the doorbell ringing.
- Oh gosh, now my friend came!
he shouted and ran to the door.
- Came? Who came? Donald Duck?
Dad opened the door, and next I heard a familiar voice. It couldn't be... Only a while later dad came back, you're right, with Sylvia. They looked at each other and smiled. Right after that I fainted.

As I opened my eyes next time I first saw both my dad and Sylvia looking at me worriedly. As I got up, my dad started:
- Maxie, Sylvia is moving here, she's gonna be your stepmother!
Sylvia took the whole thing much more calmly:
- Max... I hope that's okay with you.
I was all out of it, but after all it was me, who brought these two together.
- Um.. yeah, sure. No problem. Well... I'm leaving now, going skating, you can be all by yourself.
It would take some time for me to get used to this new situation, but I'd succeed. It could always be worse.
